6. Determine when the car was last serviced and whether the car insurance and other permits are all in order.

I also agree with you. The other advantage of car rental services is that if a car breaks down it would be replaced immediately since most or all of the big car rental companies provide a replacement cab if such a scenario occurs. This also ensures peace of mind for the person travelling. It is really a great and helpful piece of info. Thanks for sharing.
